Graphic designers in Malta
Dapperlance lists independent graphic designers in Malta, working remotely or in person from Birkirkara, Gżira and elsewhere. Between them they cover logo design, brand identity and brand guidelines, business cards, brochures, packaging and print design, and some also build websites alongside the visual identity. Message any of them for free from their listing.
What does a logo or brand identity cost in Malta?
None of the Malta graphic designers listed here publish a fixed price for a logo or a brand identity, each quotes per project after a brief. We checked the designers' own websites in September 2026 and every one points to a free quote request rather than a price list. The table below shows how each piece of work is usually priced so you can compare quotes on the same basis.
| Service | How it is priced |
|---|---|
| Logo design | Per project, based on the number of concepts and rounds of revisions |
| Brand identity and guidelines | Per project, by the number of deliverables (colour palette, fonts, templates, usage rules) |
| Business cards and stationery | Per item, or bundled into a branding package |
| Brochures, flyers and packaging | Per piece, print-ready file preparation often quoted separately |
| Website design | Per project, sometimes bundled with the graphic design work |
| Ongoing social media graphics | Monthly retainer or per batch of assets |
Three things move the price. Revisions: a fixed number of logo concepts and rounds is standard, extra rounds cost more, so ask what is included before you brief the designer. Deliverables: a logo file alone costs less than a full brand identity with guidelines, colour codes and templates for social media and print. Bundling: a designer who also builds the website often prices the two together, which can work out cheaper than hiring separately.
How to choose a graphic designer in Malta
Get the copyright position in writing, because under the Copyright Act (Cap. 415) the designer keeps copyright in a logo or artwork unless a signed written agreement assigns it to you. Article 24 of the Act states that no assignment of copyright has effect unless made in a written agreement between the parties, so an invoice or a verbal "it's yours now" is not enough. Ask for a short written clause transferring the rights, or at least a licence that says what you can do with the artwork, before you pay the final invoice.
Registering the finished logo as a trademark is a separate step from owning its copyright. Malta's Commerce Department, through the Industrial Property Registrations Directorate, registers trademarks. Its published schedule of fees, checked September 2026, charges €115 to apply for one class of goods or services and €90 to renew the registration after ten years. This step protects the name and mark in a way copyright in the artwork does not.
Common mistakes to avoid: agreeing a price with no fixed number of revisions, which leads to disputes when the third or fourth round is billed extra, finishing the project without the source files (a vector file you can resize and edit, not just a small web image), and skipping a written rights transfer because the designer seems trustworthy. Ask which file formats you receive at the end before you agree the price.

Frequently asked questions
How much does a logo cost in Malta?
Malta's freelance graphic designers do not publish fixed logo prices, they quote per project after hearing the brief. The price depends mainly on how many concepts and revision rounds are included, so ask for that number before agreeing a fee.
Who owns the copyright to a logo I commission in Malta?
The designer does, by default, even after you pay. Under Malta's Copyright Act, copyright only transfers to you through a signed written assignment, so ask for one in writing if you want full ownership rather than just a licence to use the logo.
Do I need to register my logo as a trademark?
Copyright and trademark are different protections. Copyright in the artwork sits with the designer unless assigned to you, while a trademark protects your brand name and mark and is registered separately with Malta's Industrial Property Registrations Directorate for €115 per class of goods or services, renewed every ten years.
What should be included in a branding package?
A full brand identity usually includes the logo in several formats, a colour palette with colour codes, chosen fonts, and basic usage guidelines. Business cards, letterheads and social media templates are often quoted as extras rather than included by default, so confirm the deliverable list before you brief the designer.
Can a graphic designer also build my website?
Several of the designers listed here also design and build websites, often pricing the two together. Bundling can work out cheaper than hiring a separate designer and developer, but check that the same person or studio handles both the visual identity and the technical build.
