Dapperlance is Malta’s freelance marketplace. Post what you offer, or what you need, chat directly, and agree on the rest between yourselves. Free to use, no commission, no middlemen.
The basics
Reviews are how trust works here
When a project is arranged through the Dapperlance chat and marked complete, both sides can review each other. Because payment happens directly between you, we cannot verify the work ourselves, and we won’t pretend otherwise. What keeps the marketplace honest is people actually leaving reviews.
A listing with real reviews behind it is the strongest social proof you can build here, and it is the first thing people check before sending a message. So when a job wraps up, even if the last steps happened offline, take a minute to mark the project complete in the chat and leave a review. It is also completely fine to ask the other person for one; most people are happy to do it, they just forget.
If you’re selling work
- Write your listing title the way a customer would search: “Wedding DJ, weddings & private events”, not “Best DJ in Malta!!!”.
- State your rate honestly, even a range. Listings with clear pricing get more messages.
- Add photos of your actual work, they matter more than anything else on the page.
- Reply quickly. Most buyers message two or three people and go with whoever answers first.
- Arrange the project through the chat workflow and ask for a review when the job is done. Reviews are what win you the next customer.
- Want a head start? You can feature your listing for a few euros to show at the top of the front page and search results.
If you’re buying work
- Describe the job concretely: what, where, when, and roughly what you expect to pay.
- Check the seller’s reviews and how long they’ve been on Dapperlance.
- Agree the full price in the chat before work starts, that way there’s a written record you can both point to.
- When the work is done, mark the project complete and leave a review. Sellers with reviews take their work seriously, and your review helps the next buyer choose well.
Staying safe
- Keep the conversation on Dapperlance until you’ve agreed the essentials. Your chat messages are a written record you can use as proof if a disagreement ever comes up. If you continue offline or on another channel, put your agreements in writing there too. Dapperlance does not mediate or settle disputes between users, so a clear written agreement is your best protection.
- Never pay in advance to someone you haven’t met or checked out. For larger jobs, agree on paying in stages as work is delivered.
- Be wary of anyone who pushes to move off-platform immediately, asks for gift cards or crypto, or offers to overpay and ask for a refund of the difference, these are classic scam patterns.
- For in-person services, a first meeting in a public place is never a bad idea.
- See something suspicious? Every listing has a Report listing link, use it. We check every report.
Ground rules
The short version: be honest about who you are and what you offer, only post listings you’re entitled to post, and treat the person on the other side the way you’d want to be treated.
One thing worth saying plainly: Dapperlance connects people, it doesn’t sit between them. We do our part to keep the marketplace clean, we act on every report and remove listings that break the rules, but deals are made directly between users and you remain responsible for your own interactions. Use the same common sense you would when buying or selling services anywhere else. The full details live in our Terms & Conditions and Privacy Policy.
