What do curtains and soft furnishings cost in Malta?
Ready-made soft furnishings have published prices, made-to-measure curtains do not. We checked a Gozo curtain and soft furnishings business's own online shop in September 2026 and found fixed prices on ready-made cushions, throws, blankets and carpets, but the made-to-measure curtain and rail service is quoted after a home visit and measurement, with no published rate per metre or per window.
| Item | Typical price |
|---|---|
| Ready-made cushion, 50 x 50 cm | About €19 to €40 |
| Ready-made sofa throw | About €32 to €55 |
| Blanket or throw | About €28 to €59 |
| Ready-made carpet, 160 x 230 cm | About €88 to €180 |
| Made-to-measure curtains, blinds and rails | Quoted per window after a home measurement |
Three things move the price of made-to-measure work. Fabric: a plain cotton costs far less per metre than a heavier lined or patterned fabric, and the business's showroom is where this gets decided. Style: a simple pencil pleat curtain takes less fabric and labour than an eyelet or pleated heading, and blackout or thermal lining adds to both the fabric and the sewing time. Window count and width: pricing is normally per window or per curtain panel, so a bay window or a wide sliding door costs more than a single standard window.
How to choose a curtain and soft furnishings provider in Malta
Making curtains and soft furnishings is not a licensed trade in Malta, so ask to see fabric samples and completed work before ordering. Let the business measure the windows rather than measuring yourself, since a curtain cut a few centimetres short cannot be lengthened, and ask whether the home visit is free. Ask whether installation of the rail or track is included in the quote or charged separately.
Common mistakes to avoid: measuring the window yourself and ordering fabric from photos without seeing a sample in your own room's light, choosing a lining without asking how it affects the room's temperature and the fabric's lifespan in direct sun, which is strong for much of the year in Malta, and forgetting to order curtains before other furniture and paint colours are finalised, since fabric choice usually anchors the rest of a room.
Browse the providers listed above and message them directly, it is free. For regular cleaning or companion care, the Cleaning and Elderly Care & Companionship categories list more options side by side. Also related: Architecture & Interior Design.
Frequently asked questions
How much do made-to-measure curtains cost in Malta?
Malta curtain businesses do not publish a per-metre or per-window rate, they quote after a home measurement and fabric choice. The fabric itself, the curtain heading style and whether it is lined all change the price, so ask for a written quote before ordering.
Do I need to measure my own windows for curtains?
No. Businesses offering made-to-measure curtains in Malta normally measure the window themselves during a home visit, because a small measuring error cannot be corrected once the fabric is cut. Book the measurement before choosing a fixed installation date.
Is installation included when I order curtains?
This varies by business, so ask when you get your quote. Some made-to-measure services include fitting the track or rail and hanging the curtains, others charge installation separately or expect the customer to arrange it.
Where can I find cleaning or companion care services in Malta?
Cleaning and elderly care and companionship each have their own category, which is the place to compare more than one option for a regular cleaning or care arrangement.
